*If the failure or contravention referred to in sub-section (1) of S.15 of Environment Protection Act, 1986 continues beyond a period of one year after the date of conviction, the offender shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years.* - S.15 (2) of Environment Protection Act, 1986
