Stray Dogs and Supreme Court's Directions
In a recent finding [IN RE: “CITY HOUNDED BY STRAYS, KIDS PAY PRICE” [2025] GCtR 1415 (SC)], directions have been issued regarding stray dogs. Picking up of stray dogs has been directed and to be put it into shelters. Authorities have to create shelters/pounds. Dogs should not be released back into streets. Lethargy will lead to action against authorities.
Dog shelters should have CCTVs. Records of stray dogs should be maintained. Dogs should not be released back in streets. It was rightly noted : "We condemn those who, beneath the cloak of “love and care” for the voiceless, pursue the warmth of self-congratulation." Court has rightly urged all to adopt and give dogs a shelter in their homes.
The decision is apt and exposes the so called activists who portray their sham love for animals but fail to keep them inside their homes. Hope the dangerous breed of sham activists get a lesson that charity begins at home and not just asking public to bear the burden of sham love of sham activists.
