 Book Review : "Varchasva"

The book is written by Shri Rajesh Pandey. The name of book is Varchasva. The book is priced reasonably and it is a detailed account of some of the alleged crimes committed during the years 1990 to 2000. After reading "Varchasva", one feels books written by S. Hussain Zaidi almost like a fiction which is expected because the expanse of crimes in State of UP is at much larger scale than a city of Mumbai. 

The precision of writing is impressive. The accounts given in several media outlets and other sources about Shriprakash have been hazy and confusing. This book is an authentic account of what could have possibly transpired. 

The most important part of book is the manner and planning for control of Shriprakash by UP Police through STF. There are other books like "Biting the Bullet" which make a cursory and almost inaccurate description of Shriprakash, "Varchasva" has several correct facts in it. 

It is important that the author has maintained a tone familiar to all segments of readers and has written the book in Hindi language to impart authenticity. 

However, for someone who is deeper into crime or criminal law, one can point out the fallacies in book. While author maintains use of AK-47 in Brijbihari murder case, the Court records do not say any such thing. Clearly, the book appears to have questioned the version put forth by CBI in Brijbihari murder.

That aside, the book is a superb work of writing with deep details of facts. It has left other authors on this subject far behind. While there have been many police officers of high ranks, the zeal to carry forward and explain the crime in detail by writing such authentic book is expected only by someone one who has done his duty with complete honesty. "Varchasva" fails to disappoint.
