 "Press has a Duty to Speak Truth to Power" : Supreme Court in April 2023

An important Judgment is passed by Hon'ble Supreme Court on 5 April 2023.

It has been commented in Madhyaman Broadcasting Ltd v Union of India [2023] GCtR 732 (SC) thus : 

"The press has a duty to speak truth to power."

"Concerns of national security do not permit an absolute abrogation of the principles of natural justice."

 On Natural Justice : An Important View of Supreme Court

An important Judgment was passed on 27 April 2004 by Hon'ble Supreme Court.

In the context of natural justice, the law is extremely clear and settled since 2004. It has been clearly and unequivocally commented at page 13 of Bar Council of India v High Court of Kerala [2004] GCtR 2744 (SC) thus : -

"Principles of natural justice, however, cannot be stretched too far. Their application may be subject to the provisions of a statute or statutory rule."

Whether a view of 3- Judges' Bench of Hon'ble Supreme Court will prevail over the views of Hon'ble High Courts ?
