Private Bank Directed to Pay Amount for Mental Agony/Harassment to Borrower

Citation of the Decision : [2021] GCtR 1090

In a recent decision where the borrower had entered into a transaction with a private bank, the consumer being aggrieved had filed a petition under the Consumer Protection Act. In this case, there was an agreement between the borrower and the said private bank. Borrower argued that when the borrower tried to make certain inquiries from the bank, he did not received satisfactory reply from the private bank and borrower alleged deficiency in service on part of the private bank in certain actions of the said private bank.

Finally, the private bank was directed to pay :

Litigation Cost which was more than Rs. 30,000/- + Amount towards mental agony/harassment + Other Amount.
